Hello We are the Arbini Family. When we are in the United States - Macedonia COGIC is our home church in Val Verde, CA. Our long term positive relationship with our church has been blessed and continues to produce fruit. Our calling and missionary outreach is to the people of Africa. As such we have developed the African Bible Project. It is a grass roots concept to get Bibles to those in need in many of the poorest places across Africa.
OUR INTENT: The intent of this project is to give all Protestant churches an opportunity to connect with fellow believers half way across the world. We endeavor to cross denominational boundaries and focus on one common factor to all believers, "The need for Gods written word in our personal daily lives."
HOW WE GOT STARTED: Our journey started with three containers to Ghana, West Africa. These containers were loaded with many gifts and bibles. From there it has grown to include thousands upon thousands of bibles and many countries. Each country poses different challenges and circumstances to get the bibles to the people. Our most recent push is to get Bibles into the war torn areas of The Democratic Republic Of Congo ( DRC ) .
WHY THE CONGO? The DRC lies in Africa's Sub Sahara Region and has undergone years of war and internal fighting. Many of the people live in refugee or IDP camps and with very few possessions. Owning a personal copy of the bible is unthinkable. Many of the people are Christians yet survive without any access to a bible. Their spiritual teaching is all word of mouth which can conjure up some strange ideas.
OUR NEED: We have collected enough funds to ship a container of bibles and we have secured approx. 12,000 English versions of the bible to date. A shipping container holds about 40 thousand bibles. We currently need to collect funds to get 30,000 bibles in their common language, Swahili.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Swahili Bibles cost about $8.00 each - (the price of a couple of visits to Starbucks…). Our idea is simple, our program is proven and the need is real. If God so invites you to participate we rejoice with you as do our brothers and sisters so far away. The celebration would bring tears to your eyes if you could see the joy expressed when this need is met. We hope compassion so fills your heart that you join us.
Blessings,
The Arbini Family
